The Powder/Ombré Brows technique creates a soft powdery look much like a soft topical makeup. It is not done with powder, but with a liquid cosmetic tattoo pigment. Sometimes it is also called Microshading, Shaded Brows, Airy Brows, etc.

The Powder/Ombré Brows technique is not for creating individual hair strokes and is best for clients who want a more filled-in looking brows or want an even base color under their eyebrow hairs.

This technique is the most gentle for the skin and is the most natural looking after healing and aging unlike Hair Strokes/Microblading. This is the only technique that will work even for oily skin types & skin with large pores or visible wrinkles.

Can last anywhere between 1-3 years. Annual touch-ups are recommended every 1-3 years to keep the color looking good.

Price includes 1 complimentary touch-up session 6-12 weeks after the 1st appointment.

No additional touch-ups will be performed earlier than 12 months after the last session to avoid skin trauma.

Healing Process

This is what you might expect during the healing phase:

DAY 1-2

What you see is about 20-40% darker, bolder and more solid than what your healed result will present. Under the pigment, the skin is red, and pigment has been deposited into the layer of skin containing dead skin cells; combined giving the appearance of a darker color. There may be minimal swelling.

The top layers of skin will begin to shed on about day 3-5, and you will see a loss of color. Your eyebrows may begin to itch, and the pigment may appear somewhat raised. You will see a loss of color where the scabs come off.

DAY 4-14

The skin is now in the throes of rapid exfoliation and if left alone, will shed evenly.   The color under the exfoliating skin will continue to appear light until the epidermis takes on its more transparent characteristics.

DAY 30-40

Now is the time to critique your brows as you have had a full cycle of cellular regeneration in which the tattoo has now become part of the dermis, seen under the epidermis.

* Every individual is different, and this approximate timeline is just that, an approximate and can vary from person to person

When you leave the appointment, your eyebrows will be intact and we will do our best to help you heal properly. Your lifestyle choices, age, genetics, and skin type will contribute to the retention of your pigment. If you use sun-beds, sunbathe, don’t use sun protection, smoke, use anti-aging creams or acidic cleansers, your eyebrows WILL fade faster and you’ll need to come earlier for your refresh touch ups

Cosmetic tattoo is an art, not a science. Your results will vary and using eyebrow makeup may still be needed, especially when wearing heavy coverage makeup. This is not necessarily a no maintenance treatment, but a low maintenance treatment. No two sides of the face are the same or perfectly symmetrical and whilst trying to obtain perfect symmetry is my goal, nothing is guaranteed or 100% perfect.

Unfortunately, hair strokes is not a good technique for everyone. But even if you are a good candidate for hair strokes (Microblading or Nano Brows) you should still consider soft shading (Powder Brows/Ombré Brows) for multiple reasons. To learn more please check Marina’s recent blog post on this subject https://vapmuschool.com/why-powder-ombre-brows-technique-is-better-than-microblading-hair-strokes/

While an individual’s threshold for pain will vary from person to person, there are a few ways we can minimize your discomfort. Typically eyebrow area is the least sensitive to tattoo unlike lips.

  • A topical anesthetic is used during all procedures
  • Avoid caffeine & alcohol the day of your appointment
  • Avoid booking your appointment during your menstrual cycle

Touch up is a follow up procedure which takes place a minimum six weeks after your initial visit, after your skin is fully healed. How much work you will need on a touch up will depend on several factors such as:

Your desired results

Your body’s healing capabilities, and ability to retain pigment

Your dedication to following post procedure instructions

This touch-up price is only on work done by us, there is no touch-up rate for the work done elsewhere.

No touch-ups will be performed before 12 months to avoid skin trauma.

Appointments after 36 months of the last service will be charged our current full price and will require 2 sessions to complete
